What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear, custom aligners that help to straighten your teeth without traditional metal braces.

We use advanced 3D computer imaging technology to create a treatment plan based on your specific needs.

Next, a series of custom Invisalign aligners will be made to fit your teeth precisely throughout the treatment process.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign clear plastic aligners move your teeth in tiny increments during the treatment process. You wear each aligner for about two weeks and then switch to the next set in the series.

You will follow this process until your teeth are in their new positions. The length of your Invisalign treatment is determined by your particular case.

How long does Invisalign take?

Your dentist will determine the duration of your Invisalign treatment based on your unique needs.

Factors such as the misalignment of your teeth or jaw, the shape of your bite, and the amount of movement required to correct the problem will help determine the length of your treatment.

What are Invisalign aligners made of?

Invisalign aligners are made with USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight, polyurethane resins. They are BPA-free.

How often do I have to visit the orthodontist?

Invisalign aligners require no adjustments or tightening – you just switch to a new set about every two weeks – so you will only need to schedule brief appointments with your dentist every four to six weeks.

At these appointments, your dentist will review your progress and answer any questions you may have about your ongoing treatment.

What are the primary features of Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are:

  • Discreet. Others may not even notice your wearing them!
  • Comfortable. Made of smooth plastic, they easily fit over your teeth.
  • Convenient. You don't need to go to the dentist for regular adjustments.
  • Removable. Simply take them out for for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of your Invisalign treatment will depend on the severity of your case and the length of your treatment. For example, the more severe your misalignment issues, the more aligners you'll need and the more treatment will cost. Ultimately, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to that of traditional braces.

Only your dentist can give you an accurate idea of how much treatment will cost. In the meantime, use our Payment Calculator to get an idea of how much your treatment will cost on a weekly basis.

How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?

You will probably find that Invisalign fits comfortably into your day-to-day life.

Because of the low-profile design, many people won't even notice you're wearing your aligners, so they may have little impact on your social life.

And since you can take your aligners out to eat, drink, brush and floss there are no dietary restrictions and only minor lifestyle adjustments.

Are there any food or drink restrictions?

Because you can remove Invisalign aligners to eat and drink, there are no dietary restrictions. You can take them out to continue to eat all the foods you love and to drink things like wine, coffee, or dark soda beverages.

How many sets of aligners will I need?

The number of aligners you need depends on the severity of your misalignment.

Your dentist can give you an accurate estimate of how long your treatment will take, based on your specific case.

Can adults use Invisalign?

Yes! Anyone who has healthy teeth and gums can potentially use Invisalign.

These days, more adults are deciding to undergo orthodontic treatment, in large part because low-profile, convenient options like Invisalign are now available.

Can teenagers use Invisalign?

Yes! Teens can certainly be candidates for Invisalign. In fact, Invisalign has created a line of aligners tailored to the unique needs of teenagers.

How often do I have to change my aligners?

Generally, patients change to the next set of aligners in their series every two weeks or so. Your dentist will provide you with instructions about when to switch your aligners.

How do I clean my aligners?

  • Rinse your aligners every time you remove them to wash away dry saliva and plaque that can result in dental decay and bad breath.
  • Soak your aligners using a denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, and/or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
  • Brush and floss your teeth before you put your aligners back in to remove any food debris and bacteria that can get trapped between your teeth and the aligner.
  • Clean your aligners with a clear, anti-bacterial soft soap, and be sure to brush them gently so they don't get scratched.

Can I continue activities and hobbies with Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are removable so you can continue to do all the things you love.

If you're active in sports, simply remove them while you're playing. If you play an instrument, simply remove them while you're practicing.

Be sure to keep in mind that Invisalign aligners must be kept in for about 22 hours a day, so plan your time carefully.

How do I store my aligners?

Your Invisalign aligners will come with a case. This is the best place to put them when you're not wearing them to keep them safe.
